Local Grants & Windfarm Funding
Money from the windfarms around us is set aside for the people who live here. Through the Local Grants Scheme, Dalton & Carrutherstown Community Council can award funding to individuals and groups with ideas that benefit our community, and help larger projects reach the wider funds.
Where the money comes from
The Annandale and Nithsdale Community Benefit Company Ltd (ANCBC) and the Minsca Windfarm Community Fund manage funds provided by Scottish Power Renewables and Nadara, linked to the Harestanes and Minsca windfarms. Under agreement with the providers, the funds can support a wide range of activities that benefit local communities.
The Local Grants Scheme lets participating community councils support locally identified projects and initiatives that clearly demonstrate a community benefit. It helps the funds reach deeper into the community and have a positive impact on a wider number of people. Each community council coordinates the Scheme for its own area and decides how applicants apply and how much they can apply for.
How much can be requested?
Most applications fall into Category 1. These are considered and approved directly by Dalton & Carrutherstown Community Council.

The maximum award for individuals with an idea that benefits our community.
£500
The maximum award for community groups without a formal constitution.
£1,000
The maximum award for constituted groups, clubs and organisations.
Constituted groups may submit more than one application relating to the same event, provided each application is clearly aligned to a separate aspect of it. Approval is subject to careful assessment of fair and proportionate distribution of funds.
Bigger ideas: Category 2
From time to time a more ambitious project, activity or purchase may need more than the Community Council can authorise directly. In such cases we would be happy to discuss the proposal and, where the funding scheme criteria are satisfied and sufficient funds are available, help you identify the most appropriate funding stream through which to submit your application to the fund administrator. Each case is considered on its own merits and is subject to final approval by the relevant fund administrator.

We are keen to demonstrate sound governance, so every award made under the Scheme is handled openly and accountably:
Fully auditable
Every award can be traced from the point of application through to payment of funds and spending by the applicant.
Receipts kept
Successful applicants provide receipts afterwards showing the money was used in line with the terms of their application.
