Carrutherstown playpark: funding applications under way
Following meetings with Dumfries and Galloway Council’s park development officer, concept sketches for improvements to the Carrutherstown playpark were compiled to visualise what might be possible through regeneration.
The Community Council consulted with local people to establish the kind of activities that are most popular to ensure that what actually gets built reflects what local residents would like to see. The results of that consultation will influence the type of equipment that will be purchased for the regenerated playpark.
The Community Council is now preparing funding applications which will be sent to the two windfarm grant funding streams that operate within the local area in the hope that suitable funds may be awarded. If those bids are successful, Dumfries and Galloway Council has pledged to match-fund the amount awarded through the windfarm schemes. Dumfries and Galloway Council has also pledged to maintain the regenerated playpark for a period of at least 20 years.
Final decisions on the funding applications will be made known to the Community Council in late October.
